Lupe is a new band from Bodøconsisting of three musicians with an above-average interest in what you can dowith sound effects on instruments that have never asked for it.

Aksel Bakke borrows breakbeats from the DJs while adding effects to his drum that no one has heard of before, himself included. Christo Stangness plays a Moog bass, but also has an acoustic reedorgan that he thinks should sound like it's from another galaxy. Martin Högberg is the only sane musician in the band, but he too has bought himself a KaossPad and insists on using it on his otherwise fine guitar sound. He also has some weird synths that work almost all the time.

Are you wondering how this sounds? It actually sounds pretty cool. In any case, the band has the sense to make catchy songs with cool grooves that have one leg in improvisation and one in electronic music. Jungle and Drum'n'Bass-grooves are mixed with hooks worthy of Swedish pop producers, and tough dub parts are explored with reed organ and sequencer.

Is a guitarist, composer and arranger. In Lupe, he also finds an outlet for his interest in creative experimenting around synths, effects and alternative soundscapes! With a loop machine, sequencer and sampler, Martin's goal is to make the band sound much bigger than what the trio implies. A synth melody here, a sampled voice there, and in the middle of it all a sea of intricate guitar loops.

Is a musician, producer and sound technician from Steigen. He has never quite come to terms with the fact that the drum set has in modern times been replaced by drum machines and laptops. In his fight against the machines and the DJs, he has shamelessly appropriated the weapons of the enemy - such as breakbeats with filter sweeps.

Is a musician, producer and songwriter. Usually, double bass and electric bass are his main instruments, but in Lupe he tries something new. A tired reed organ and a rock-hard Moog are the way to bring out a whole lot of new creative angles and musical waves. With a good mood and courage, the music should come out whether it is acoustic or processed through a number of effects and software.
